Bronze Age Forum 2022

Cambridge
12–13 November 2022

BAF2022: Cambridge

For the first time since the original Bronze Age Forum in 1999, BAF returns to Cambridge.

The Bronze Age Forum is for everyone with an interest in the Bronze Age—university academics, commercial archaeologists, museum curators, postgraduate students, independent scholars, and the public.

The event will be held in Cambridge over the weekend of 12–13 November 2022.

The draft programme is now available—click here to download (1.8MB PDF, opens in a new window). This year's talks and posters feature excavations, genetics, metalwork, hoards, feasting sites, pottery making, settlement, animal movement, museum exhibitions, burials, archives, food production, aerial photography, and landscape archaeology.

ABOUT THE FORUM
Tickets sales have now closed

Tickets sales closed on 26 October 2022, and there will be no tickets sold at the door.

We regret that are unable to offer more places: we have limited capacity in some parts of the venue and we needed to finalise numbers for catering.

Next generation
Next generation archaeologists

This year, we especially have been keen to encourage the next generation of archaeologists to get involved in the Bronze Age Forum—particularly after the difficulties studying and starting a career during lockdown. The Prehistoric Society is generously supporting our aim with:

  • a prize for the best poster by a young archaeologist (a choice of the Prehistoric Society's monographs)—the winner will be announced at our reception in 12 November.

  • bursaries for five students and early career archaeologists giving a poster or presentation.

Hosts

BAF2022 is being hosted jointly by the Cambridge Archaeological Unit and the Department of Archaeology, University of Cambridge. The Organising Committee is made up of Rob Wiseman, Marie Louise Stig Sørenson, Jody Joy, Joanna Brück and Stuart Needham.
